N0rm.site POP-UP Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is n0rm.site?
n0rm.site is a rogue website (identical to syndication.dynsrvtbg.com, fastcanary.com, click-it-now.online, and many more) that redirects visitors to other dubious sites.
Few users visit n0rm.site willingly - most are redirected to it by potentially unwanted programs (PUPs) that infiltrate systems without permission. Furthermore, PUPs cause unwanted redirects, record information, and deploy intrusive advertisements.
Following infiltration, the installed potentially unwanted program redirects users to the n0rm.site rogue website, which then causes redirects to other (typically 2-3) untrustworthy websites (that will probably also contain malicious content).
As mentioned above, PUPs provide intrusive/unwanted advertisements (such as coupons, banners, pop-ups, surveys etc.) These are displayed using tools that enable placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, they are likely to also conceal underlying content of any opened website, and in doing so, diminish the browsing experience.
Furthermore, once clicked, these ads usually redirect to other untrustworthy website, and some might execute scripts that download and install unwanted programs (potentially malware). Redirects to and from n0rm.site and intrusive ads caused by installed potentially unwanted programs can result in various high-risk computer infections.
Furthermore, PUPs often record data such as IP addresses, visited websites, search queries, keystrokes, and other information that might contain personal details. This information is shared with (or sold to) third parties (potentially cyber criminals) to generate revenue. This behaviour can lead to various problems such as privacy issues or even identity theft.
By having a potentially unwanted program installed, you might also encounter reduced computer performance, since some are known to misuse system resources by running various background tasks. Therefore, we strongly recommended that you eliminate potentially unwanted programs immediately.

There are many potentially unwanted programs available on the Internet that offer users various "useful" features and aim to give the impression of legitimacy. Most, however, are designed only to generate revenue by providing various ads etc., and do not deliver the functionality promised.
How did adware install on my computer?
Many potentially unwanted programs have official websites where they can be downloaded free of charge. In most cases, however, users install them without consent by clicking various ads or using the "bundling" method.
Bundling is a deceptive marketing method used by software developers to install potentially unwanted programs with other regular software that users wish to install. Developers typically do not disclose these installations properly and hide bundled software (PUPs) in "Custom"/"Advanced" options or other settings of the installation processes.
Most users tend to skip installation steps without paying attention to details, and thus inadvertently allow potentially unwanted programs to be installed. This careless behaviour often results in various computer infections, privacy issues, a diminished browsing experience, and other problems.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Take precautions when downloading and installing software - do not download software from untrustworthy websites using third party software downloaders, or torrents. Use only official sources and direct links. Pay attention to the installation details - do not skip installation steps and check all available "Custom", "Advanced", and other similar options.
This also applies to any checkboxes ticked by default. Opt-out of all unwanted offers and only then finish the installation. Avoid clicking on ads, even if they appear legitimate. Cyber criminals invest time and money into ad design so that users can be tricked into clicking them.
If you happen to click of the ads of this type and were redirected to adult dating, pornography, gambling, or other similar suspicious websites, close it immediately and check all extensions, add-ons and plug-ins, installed on your computer (or your browser).
Uninstall any dubious/unwanted entries. Finally, keep your antivirus software enabled at all times and ensure your web browser is updated to the latest version. If your computer is already infected with n0rm.site, we recommend running a scan with Combo Cleaner Antivirus for Windows to automatically eliminate this adware.
