Call Technical Support Immediately Scam

What is Call Technical Support Immediately?
"Call Technical Support Immediately" is a fake error message displayed by a malicious website. Users are redirected to this website by rogue adware-type applications, which usually infiltrate systems during installation of other (often free) software (via the bundling method).
Most offer various 'useful features', and yet, none provide any real value. As well as causing redirects, adware-type apps also deliver intrusive online advertisements and collect information that might be personally identifiable.
The website itself contains text stating that the operating system's activation key has expired, the system is infected, and private information (passwords, banking details, etc.) have been stolen. It also displays a pop-up message that contains a similar message. Users are encouraged to immediately contact "Technical Support" via a telephone number (0800-433-7682) provided.
They will then supposedly receive help in solving these issues. Be aware, however, that the "Call Technical Support Immediately" error is a scam. None of the listed problems exist - cyber criminals attempt to scare and trick victims into calling and paying for services that are not needed. Therefore, you should ignore this error and never attempt to contact these people.
Adware-type applications employ a 'virtual layer' to generate pop-up, banner, coupon, and other similar ads. The virtual layer enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. The displayed ads often conceal underlying website content and might redirect to malicious websites - clicking them is risky and can lead to various computer infections.
Another downside is data tracking. Adware monitors users' Internet browsing activity by gathering various information that might be personally identifiable (for example, IP addresses, geo-locations, websites visited, search queries, pages viewed, etc.) The data is shared with third parties who misuse personal details to generate revenue.
Therefore, the presence of data-tracking apps on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. For these reasons, adware-type apps should be uninstalled immediately.
There are dozens of fake error messages similar to "Call Technical Support Immediately". Examples include Your Windows Computer Has Been Blocked, Your Computer is locked !, Windows Firewall Security Damaged, and many others. All claim that the computer is damaged in some way, however, these statements are false.
Cyber criminals attempt to extort money from unsuspecting users. Most adware-type applications offer various 'useful features', however, claims to enhance the Internet browsing experience are merely attempts to trick users to install. Adware-type apps are designed only to generate revenue for the developers.
They deliver intrusive online advertisements, track private data and, in this case, cause unwanted browser redirects.
How did adware install on my computer?
Cyber criminals often proliferate adware-type applications by employing a deceptive marketing method called "bundling", since they know that users often rush the download/installation processes and skip most steps. Therefore, bundled programs are hidden within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of these procedures.
Skipping this section often leads to inadvertent installation of bogus programs, exposes systems to risk of various infections, and puts users' privacy at risk.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
There are two simple steps you should take to prevent this situation. Firstly, never rush when downloading and installing software. Select the "Custom/Advanced" settings and carefully analyze each step. Secondly, decline offers to download/install additional applications and cancel those already included. The key to computer safety is caution.
