VidSqaure Adware
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is VidSqaure?
VidSqaure is a deceptive application that supposedly provides a DNS service allowing users to access various websites that would otherwise be blocked in their countries. This functionality may appear legitimate and useful, however, VidSqaure is likely to infiltrate systems without users' permission.
Furthermore, this app gathers information relating to users' Internet browsing activity and displays intrusive online advertisements. For these reasons, VidSqaure is classed as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and adware.
Following infiltration, VidSqaure generates pop-ups, banners, and other similar advertisements. To achieve this, developers employ a 'virtual layer' - a tool that enables placement of third party graphical content on any site. Therefore, displayed ads often conceal underlying content of visited websites, thereby significantly diminishing the web browsing experience.
Furthermore, they often lead to malicious websites containing infectious content - clicking them risks further adware or malware infections. As well as displaying advertisements, VidSqaure records various data types that might be personally identifiable.
Examples include Internet Protocol (IP) addresses, websites visited, pages viewed, and search queries entered into search engines. The data is shared with third parties (potentially, cyber criminals) who attempt to generate revenue by misusing personal details.
Therefore, the presence of an information-tracking app such as VidSqaure on your system can lead to serious privacy issues or even identity theft. We strongly advise you to eliminate this adware from your computer immediately.

VidSqaure is very similar to Counterflix, DNS Unlocker, Ghostify, and a number of other bogus applications. Adware delivers fake promises to provide functions to supposedly enhance users' web browsing experience, however, these claims are merely attempts to give the impression of legitimacy.
The only purpose of adware is to generate revenue for the developers and provides no significant value for regular users. Apps such as VidSqaure simply collect personally identifiable information and deliver intrusive online advertisements.
How did VidSqaure install on my computer?
VidSqaure has an official download website, however, developers also distribute this PUP using a deceptive software marketing method called "bundling".
Therefore, users often install VidSqaure inadvertently without their consent. Research shows that users often rush and skip most/all of the download and installation steps. Aware of this, developers hide bundled programs within the "Custom/Advanced" settings of these procedures. By rushing and skipping steps, users expose their systems to risk of various infections.
How to avoid installation of potentially unwanted applications?
Installation of PUPs such as VidSqaure can be prevented by closely analyzing the download/installation processes and opting-out of all additionally-included programs. Select the "Custom" or "Advanced" settings, observe each step, and decline all offers to download/install third party software. Be aware that bundled programs are often rogue and, thus, should never be installed.
