Trovigo.com Redirect
Written by Tomas Meskauskas on (updated)
What is Trovigo.com?
The Trovigo.com browser hijacker infiltrates Internet browsers (Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, and Mozilla Firefox) using a deceptive software marketing method called 'bundling'. Commonly, computer users install the Trovigo toolbar without their consent when downloading or installing free software.
After successful infiltration, this browser settings-changing adware assigns the homepage and default search engine fields to trovigo.com Note that this browser hijacker installs with 'search protect' software, which blocks user attempts to change Internet browsers settings.
While the Trovigo toolbar is not technically a virus or malware, it adds no real value, and moreover, diminishes browser performance, causes unwanted redirects, and tracks users' Internet browsing activity by recording search query information, IP addresses, web pages visited and content.
The presence of this potentially unwanted application on your system may lead to privacy issues and malware infections (when clicking third party ads generated by this add-on). The Trovigo toolbar is created by ClientConnect Ltd, a company closely related to Conduit Ltd (a well-known developer of various toolbars and other potentially unwanted applications).
The Trovigo.com browser hijacker is similar to other adware, which infiltrates browsers via free software downloads and modifies browser homepage and default search engine settings. Examples include sweetpacks.com, webisgreat.info, and Yahoo toolbar.
To avoid installation of such potentially unwanted applications, users should be attentive when downloading and installing freeware. Today, most free software download websites employ 'download clients' - small programs offering installation of advertised browser plug-ins.
Therefore, reckless freeware downloading can result in adware infections. When downloading free software, inspect each step and be sure to decline installation of promoted browser extensions.
When installing freeware, choose the 'Advanced' or 'Custom' installation options - this will reveal installation of any bundled adware. Computer users who experience browser redirects to the trovigo.com website, should use this removal guide to eliminate adware from their Internet browser/s.
